The Globe Theatre and its setting
The Globe Theatre of the Great Southwest is a campus theatre with a design inspired by Shakespeare’s Globe. Its octagonal plan and Elizabethan thrust-style stage shape the venue, which is fully roofed and air-conditioned.
The idea began in 1948 in Marjorie Morris’s senior English class at Odessa High School, then came to fruition at Odessa College. Groundbreaking took place on March 7, 1958; the main structure was completed in 1961 and the theatre was dedicated in May 1964. Full-time theatre activity began in fall 1968.
The Globe complex also includes a replica of the Anne Hathaway House and a Black Box Theater. The Globe itself has a small orchestra pit for roughly 7–8 musicians, four private dressing rooms, two group dressing rooms, and audio and lighting equipment.
Finding a performance
Odessa College’s show-and-ticket page is the place to check for performance listings and ticket information. The college also links to its Theatre Performance Program, which provides a route to information about the program.
There is no stated regular public opening schedule or recurring performance season, so plan around a specific event rather than assuming the theatre is open on a particular day. Check the official site before you go for the current listing and event-specific details, including the performance duration.

Tickets and getting into the venue
Ticket prices, sale methods, refund rules and late-arrival arrangements should be confirmed for the performance you choose. Use the official event listing to check what applies before making plans.
Odessa College identifies the venue location as the Globe Complex, but does not provide a street address or visitor parking instructions on its pages. Confirm directions and parking arrangements with the college before setting out. The venue has 410 seats.
Making a theatre evening in Odessa
A performance listing is the best starting point for planning the evening: check its schedule and duration first, then confirm ticket and arrival details with Odessa College. That gives you the event-specific information needed to arrange the rest of your plans.
The theatre is on the Odessa College campus, rather than in the city centre. If you are planning time elsewhere in town, the Odessa city centre visitor guide offers practical context for that part of the trip.
